I'm glad to play 《Sonatina for Guitar》for the first time in Japan, that is composed by Florian Palier who is the Viennese guitarist. One of project concepts is "Online Music Auditorium" which makes this interesting concert programs come true that have never been played in a single night concert. I believe that this "Online Music Auditorium" is going to be platform of variety of programs for many people.

Florian Palier《Sonatina for Guitar》is inspired by the poet Rilke(1875-1926)'s poem. Each all three movements have theme which comes from poems, and all poems has "passage of time" as important concepts. These three music -the music of Rilke's time, the law of harmony during post romanticism, and Jazz and Rock tastes which Palier like to play -have the same characteristics "things are shaped by the disruption of previous traditions". Palier made improvisational approach with 12-tone technique which is established in Vienna. He has reproduced the world view of the poem as a three-dimensional and vivid musical works. The 1st movement is sonata form. The theme consists of 12 notes that makes a somewhat restless world, and desolate character throughout the movement. In the contrast to the previous movement, the 2nd movement has tranquility atmosphere and it is impressive that E flat resounded with playing. The number of melodic notes which appear in the monophonic melody in this work is the same number of WORDS in Rilke's famous poem《The Yellow Rose》. The repetitive harmony symbolizes the theme of the poem "melancholy", "pain", and "decay". The 3rd movement is perpetuum mobile rondo. There is energetic musical swirls and the theme gradually changes even though it's a rondo.
